The funeral service will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at St, John’s Lutheran Church, 606 North 8th Street West. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
Edna Mae Weber was born to Alexander and Mina “Minnie” Becker Strohman on May 24, 1936, in Lingle Wyoming. Edna grew up with her older sister Florene and younger sister Nancy, in various towns located across Wyoming as her father worked for various farmers. As a young girl Edna shared her father’s passion for fishing and was quite competitive with a fishing pole in her hands. Edna spent her high school years in Lingle, Yoder and Veteran, Wyoming where she was a cheerleader, graduating in 1954 from Veteran High School.
Edna first met the love of her life Robert George Weber when she was 12 years old as her family worked for his Uncle George and father Adam Weber on their farms in Arapahoe, Wyoming. Edna recalls that Robert was more interested in his home-made ice cream than the girls (her and her older sister) upon their first meeting. As fate would have it Edna fell in love with that “shy, humble, handsome man” at the Arapahoe community dances in their teens and they married on December 12, 1954.
The couple started their family in Arapahoe, Wyoming with the births of Lori Ann and Russell Paul, what they would describe as the greatest accomplishment of their lives. Edna became the agricultural wife and mother extraordinaire, where she spent her time cooking, baking, gardening, homemaking, driving grain truck and picking sweet corn, while looking exquisite doing it. She could be seen at the family farm irrigating with Robert with her hair styled, wearing make-up, stylish sunglasses and jewelry. She would often do her gardening styled in the same fashion but while wearing her heels (platform/raised sandals) instead of irrigation boots-she was truly one of a kind. Everyone wanted to work in the field knowing that they would be spoiled by Edna’s frequent delivery of meals and special culinary treats. No one would ever go hungry on Edna’s watch.
Edna always described Robert as her rock and stability, but Edna’s family and friends will tell you she was also a pillar of strength and hope, as she counseled so many through troubling times with her immense trust and faith in God. She always had wisdom and common sense to share and was generous even when she didn’t have much to give. Edna loved her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends, and anyone that they loved, with tenacity and always unconditionally. She had a soft spot for those in need and an unmatched capacity for forgiveness-all things she credits to her faith in God.
Edna’s family and the hired help always knew her for her excellent culinary skills, but three Wyoming Governors also got to know her and remember her for those skills during her time running Accolades Cuisine. She started the business with her friend Charlene Stone in the 1990’s and continued the business with her daughter Lori until 2016.
God, gardening, baking and hard work centered her. Edna’s family will tell you she was the image of elegance and class, while loving and defending fiercely-she was fearless.
Edna was a member of the United Presbyterian Church for nearly 56 years serving as a Deacon and was an Elder up until her passing. After the passing of her beloved Robert, she found comfort in her friendships with Dick Hartwell and Dutch Afman among too many lady friends to count. She would often end a conversation with “love you much,” well we love you much Edna and are forever grateful for all that you have shared with us and taught us during your incredible life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, sister Florene and nephews.
She is survived by her children Lori Ann Weber, Russell Paul Weber, her sister Nancy, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
