Richard “Jim” Littleshield, III, 56, of St. Stephens, Wyoming passed away at Sage West Hospital – Lander on Thursday, December 19, 2024.

A Vigil Service with Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Eagle Hall, St. Stephen's Indian Mission with wake to follow at 23 Red Crow Street. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Monday, December 23, 2024, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church with burial to follow at Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.

Jim was born on June 25, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, the son of Richard J. Littleshield, Jr. and Sarah D. Littleshield, née Friday, the third of four children. He attended schools in Utah, Colorado, and Wyoming, ultimately graduating high school from St. Stephen’s High School in 1986.

He later met and married Paula Sue Wells and they were wed. They had three children from this union. Mr. Littleshield worked various positions in life. He was a cowboy for the Arapaho Ranch, a seismograph tech for various companies, wildland firefighter, and worked for the St. Stephens Mission as a maintenance worker for several years. He most recently was the caretaker of his grandchildren.

Jim enjoyed listening to music, watching sports, cooking out, watching action or cowboy films, spending time with his kids, grandkids, and other family members.

Survivors include his children, Brandys, Stephin, and Sumner Littleshield, and Shealynn Wells, who he took as his own daughter; brothers Bernard, Daniel, Neroy, Robert, and Rayburn Friday, Donald “Beans,” Fergie, Dominic, Dallas, and Reland Littleshield, and Mark, Wilbur, and Ramson Sewingyawma; sister Celia Sewingyawma; uncles Melvin and Lloyd Littleshield, Alfred Willow, and Jim Shakespeare; aunts Victoria, Vernita, Francine, and Lynelle Shakespeare, Wanda and Terri Willow, and Irene Makeshine-Denny; grandchildren Lane and TJ Teran, Salyce Sage, Daniel James Littleshield, Cassian Littleshield, and Kaylia Realbird; nephews Jared Realbird, Keiran Littleshield, Quinton Denny, and TF Friday

The family would like to acknowledge the extended families of Littleshield, Shakespeare, Underwood, Blake, Friday, and Sewingyawma.

Mr. Littleshield was preceded in death by his wife, Paula Sue Well-Littleshield; grandparents Daniel and Lydia Friday, Richard Sr. and Theresa Littleshield, and Wilbur and Violet Sewingyawma; Sundance grandpa Simon Blackman; parents Jimmy and Sarah Littleshield; sisters Nina Karen Littleshield, Ladonna Littleshield, and Theresa Littleshield; nephew Arnold Christian James Realbird; cousins Cynthia, Samantha, Michelle, Melvin (Jr.) Littleshield and Lawrence Littleshield.

Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
