Eloisa Walters, a devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024 in Riverton, Wyoming at the age of 94. She was born on June 14, 1930, in Springer, New Mexico, to Jose Manuel and Flora (Mares) Perea. Her life was filled with faith, family, and a deep love for the simple joys of life.

Eloisa spent the first nine years of her life in New Mexico before moving to Wyoming, which became her lifelong home. She attended Shoshoni High School, where she was an active and vibrant student. She played basketball, cheered on her classmates as a cheerleader, and formed friendships that lasted a lifetime.

On November 23, 1953, Eloisa married the love of her life, Clarence Joel Walters, in Billings, Montana. Together, they built a beautiful life centered around their family and faith. The couple shared many wonderful years until Clarence’s passing, and now Eloisa will be laid to rest beside him, as was her wish.

Eloisa was baptized into the Baptist faith and found strength and joy in her devotions and fellowship. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her through all its seasons.

Throughout her life, Eloisa was known for her warmth, kindness, and incredible work ethic. She worked as a waitress and cook at the Sage Brush Café in Shoshoni and Chopping’s Café in Riverton, where she greeted customers with a smile and served meals made with love. Later, she became a cook at Wind River School District #6, where she took pride in nourishing the students and staff with her delicious meals.

Eloisa had a talent for bringing people together, whether it was over a home-cooked meal, a puzzle on the table, or a game with family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life, and made countless memories with them that they will treasure forever. She also had a passion for embroidery, creating beautiful works of art with her hands.

Though she spent a brief six months in Olympia, Washington, Wyoming was her true home. She cherished the community, the wide-open spaces, and the many friendships she made over the years.

Eloisa’s life was a testament to love, faith, and dedication. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her delicious cooking, her knack for creating fun and memorable moments, and her unwavering love for her family and friends.
