Theda Ann Monroe, 64, a lifelong resident of the Wind River Reservation, passed away on December 30, 2024. Born to Fredrick Herman Monroe, Sr., and Joanne Carolyn (Duran) Monroe, Theda was baptized into the Catholic faith and lived a life deeply rooted in her family and community.

A vigil service with Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Eagle Hall followed by a wake at Eagle Hall. The funeral service will take place at St. Stephen's Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., with burial at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery.

Theda worked in housekeeping at the local casino and found joy in visiting the casino and spending time with her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.

She is survived by her father, Fredrick Herman Monroe, Sr.; sons: Alfred Monroe, Chris Monroe, Steven Monroe, Sr., and Levi Monroe; daughters: Camelia Monroe, Drisella Durgin, Amy Durgin, and Miranda Monroe; brothers: Virgil T. Monroe, Sr., Frederick (Stoney) H. Monroe, Jr., Eric Underwood, Loren Durgin, Wesley Monroe, Shane Duran, Paul Bell, Jr., Sheldon Bell, Alfred Bell, Verdale Duran, Delmar Jr., and Virgil SunRhodes; and sisters: Beatrice Monroe, Trishanna Monroe, Mary Ellen (Tweet) Pingree, Erin Duran, Caroline Duran, Priscilla Bell, Valerie Bell, Chalice Duran, Claire Ware, Valerie Tillman, Roweena Monroe, and Corrine Wanstall.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Joanne Carolyn (Duran) Monroe; sisters, Almeta Ute and Lorraine Monroe; brothers, Leo Monroe and Alfred Monroe; grandparents, Mary Shoulderblade, Leo Herman, Steven Duran, Sr., and Ida-Mae Duran; nephews, Shawn Durgin, Lyle Ute, Keenan Monroe, and Ronald Monroe; nieces, Cindy Ute and Alfreda Monroe; uncles, Wesley Monroe, Gerald Monroe, Tommy Monroe, and Steven Duran, Jr.; aunts, Joyce Duran, Jane Duran, Arleen Bell Estelle SunRhodes, Charlene Monroe; and cousins, Reva SunRhodes, Donna Jenkins, Melissa Little Thunder, Damon SunRhodes, Ronald Behan, Clarinda Behan, Ron Underwood, Dianne Underwood, Michael Duran.

Theda Ann Monroe will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of many.
