Anthony “Al” Addison, Sr., a beloved member of the Northern Arapaho community, passed away on December 28, 2024 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Al was born on June 13, 1949, in Riverton, Wyoming, to Raymond Addison, Jr. and Rosaline (Brown) Addison. Baptized into the Catholic faith, Al also practiced the traditional Northern Arapaho ways, participating in sweats and maintaining strong ties to his cultural heritage.

A vigil service with a Rosary will be recited Monday, January 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m, St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, followed by a wake at Eagle Hall, St. Stephen’s, Wyoming. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church burial to follow at St. Stephen’s  Catholic Cemetery and a Feast and Giveaway will follow at Great Plains Hall

Al served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam Wars , retiring as a Tech Sergeant in 1990 from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. During his time in the service, Al accumulated an array of awards and aircraft maintenance certifications

Al lived in various places, including California, Utah, Texas, Arizona, Germany, England, South Dakota, Thailand, and the Philippines. After retiring, he returned to the Wind River Reservation, where he served on the Northern Arapaho Business Council for over 20 years. He was the first councilman elected by a write-in vote and also served on several committees throughout Indian Country.

Al was a social and loving person who enjoyed spending time with family, always helping others, visiting with friends, celebrating holidays, and listening to country music. Sundays were special days spent in Casper, he loved going to the casinos, he would pick a restaurant he liked and after a movie of his choice. An advent sports enthusiast, football and rodeos were among his favorites. Al held a record for the mile run at Flandrea Indian School for many years, he was also the state cross country champion in cross in South Dakota. Al has numerous accomplishments in his life time.

Al married Eileen S. Groesbeck in October 1983 in Rawlins, Wyoming.
