Charlie Brown, Indian Name: Waohola sni (Respects Nothing) in Lakota given by Grandpa, Mark Big Rood, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming at the age of 58. He was born on May 3, 1966, in Riverton, Wyoming, to Francis Brown and Delphine Red Cloud Brown.
Charlie Brown was the 10th of 14 children. Charlie grew up south of Riverton and attended St. Stephen’s schools during his early education. He graduated in 1986 from Wyoming Indian High School. A lifelong resident of the Wind River Indian Reservation, Charlie dedicated much of his life to his community and family.
He worked as a custodian for the Shoshone and Arapahoe Headstart Programs and later as a shuttle driver for the Wind River Casino. Charlie also enjoyed working with Samuelson’s painting and was a night custodian at Walmart. Throughout his life, he touched many lives through his hard work and dedication.
Charlie Brown was known for his love of being a grandpa; he always had a Jolly Rancher in his pocket handing them out to his nieces and nephews. He enjoyed spending time at the casino, gambling, visiting with friends, and drinking coffee. He held a deep connection to his cultural heritage, serving as a Runner and Sundancer for the Ceremonial Lodges. He was baptized into the Catholic Faith. He was also a proud Denver Broncos fan for life with unwavering enthusiasm.
Charlie’s sense of humor was legendary. He had a nickname for everyone he knew, and almost everyone had a nickname for him in return. His good-natured spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Charlie Brown met the love of his life Michelle Jenkins and they had four children: Jude Jenkins, Charnele Jenkins, Charles “Mister Man” Brown and Charlene Brown.
Charlie Brown leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to family and community. He will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charlie Brown is survived by his son, Charles “Mr. Man” Brown; daughter, Charnele Jenkins and her children, Antonio Shakespeare and Kori Rose Shakespeare; daughter, Charlene Brown and her children, Dawson Legend, Aspen Lily; Ana and her children, Aly, Niko, Jude, and Zeke.

Charlie Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Delphine Red Cloud Brown, Ambrose Brown and Gladys Brown; son, Jude Jenkins; Lifelong partner and love of his life, Michelle Jenkins; brothers, Harvey Brown, Melvin Brown, and Lonald “Joe” Brown, Johnny Sun Dog, Bob Brown; Nieces and Nephews, Byron Joe Brown, Dawson Mayette Smith, Olivia Iron eyes, Amanda Brown, Lene ‘a Brown, Taylor Brown, Lona Brown, Michelle Brown, Shiloh Sun Dog; sisters, Barbara Red Cloud Jones and Gloria Red Cloud; mom, Geraldine “Gerry” Brown; grandparents, Hiram Axe Brown and Amy Armajo Brown, Alice White Bear Red Cloud and James Red Cloud.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church. A Rosary with Vigil will take place on Wednesday evening, January 15, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Eagle Hall, followed by a wake. Burial will follow the funeral on Thursday at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery, St. Stephens, Wyoming.
