Robert "Bobby" Roman

Robert J. "Bobby" Roman was born on April 23, 1961, in Riverton, Wyoming, to Juan Roman, Sr., and Theresa Margaret (Duran) Roman. He passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 63.

Bobby was an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and spent his entire life in Arapahoe, Wyoming. He attended grade school at Arapahoe and later graduated from Riverton High School.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Bobby built a career in the oil field, working for Cochran Drilling, Unit Drilling, Encana Oil Company, Sauer Drilling, and Cyclone Drilling. His strong work ethic was admired by many.

Bobby enjoyed life to the fullest and had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and his culture. He loved hunting, camping, traveling, and riding horses. He also enjoyed attending powwows, the Sun Dance, and other Northern Arapaho ceremonies. Branding cows and watching local high school basketball were among his favorite pastimes. Known for his playful teasing, Bobby cherished his nieces and nephews and took great pride in their accomplishments.

He is survived by his companion, Dianne WallowingBull; sons, Kyle Roman and Russell Ute; adopted sons, Ruben (Rayann) Roman, Jr., Darion Jenkins, RedElk Redman, Ron Mitchell, Jared Mosqueda, Xavior Oats, Noah Valdez, Buell Robinson, Sherman Chavez, Daniel Roman, Beneito Roman, Lloyd WallowingBull, Rod Tillman, Jaran Monroe, Tristan Brown, Cody and Steven Headley, Tony Grey, and Tyler Roman, Ace Roman, Antonio Roman, Jr. and Wilson Clifford; daughters, Sara (Darrel) Smith, LaShayla WallowingBull (Roman), Theresa WallowingBull (Roman), and Heather Friday; adopted daughters, Halle Goggles, Aleigha C’Bearing, and Dalynn Friday; grandchildren, Samara WallowingBull, Isabella Redman, Laila WallowingBull, Bee ei’I Hiiwouux Redman, Taran Medicine Cloud, and Jordan Ute.  All grandchildren, great grandchildren; Blaiston Medicine Cloud; sisters, Guadalupe Roman, Alicia Roman, and Mary Roman; adopted sisters, Jolene Iran, Julene Todd, Rosie Posey, Sissy Whiteman, Kim Harjo, Deidra Blackburn, Geraldine Roamn, and Bonnie WallowingBull; brothers, Fernando Roman, Sr., Ruben Roman, Sr., Antonio Roman, Sr., and Gambler boys; adopted brothers, Michael Brown, Sr., Dale “Bo” Brown, Ivan Posey, Darrell O’Neal, Sr., Rod Tillman, Sr., Virgil Behan, Sr., Richard Coando, Brian Williams, Sr., and Virgil Monroe; nieces, Juanita (Chris), Selena (LeRan), Keisha (Jason), Marcella (Orlando), Laniece (Jordon), Kaylene (Hoss), Marisela Roman, Anissa, Valorie, Yolanda, Anita, Tiffany, Danielle, and Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan and Theresa Roman; grandparents, Joe and Mary Armajo Duran, Silvano and Guadalupe Roman; brother, Juan Roman, Jr.; nieces, Michaela Rae Sisneros and Marcinda Gardner; nephew, Joseph Patrick Roman; adopted son, Krey Returns To War; and Sundance brother, Marcus Gardner, Sr.

A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 15, 2025, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery in St. Stephens, Wyoming. A vigil with rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 14, 2025 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, followed by a wake at the residence of his oldest daughter, 72 Chief Black Coal Circle.
