Roy "Horse Chief" Spoonhunter died on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at his home at Arapahoe. He was 56. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Dan Gannon officiating. Burial will follow at the Arapahoe Catholic Cemetery. A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. A second rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 12, at 22 Red Crow Road, Arapahoe. Roy Spoonhunter was born on March 28, 1953, to William and Elma (Smith) Spoonhunter in Riverton. He married Lacey Winnier and they had two sons, Roy and William. His family said Mr. Spoonhunter enjoyed going to the casino, playing basketball, playing "All That Glitters", and watching his nephew, Slade Spoonhunter, play basketball. They said he also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include his sons, Roy Spoonhunter, Jr. and his wife Oshda, William J. Spoonhunter and his wife Marisa, Anthony Addison, Jr., Ashley Addison, Sr., and Joshua Hanway; daughters, Antonia Hall, Mary Hanway, and Chastity Spoonhunter; brothers, Gerald Smith and wife Elizabeth, William J. Spoonhunter and wife Crystal; sisters, Mary Jean Day and husband Dave, Karen J. Spoonhunter Brown and husband Howard, Jean Watt and husband Bill, Angela Spoonhunter Hanway, Billie Ann Spoonhunter, and Dawn Spoonhunter; grandchildren, Kwaki, Saotep, Komesh, Devon, Taylor, Julia, Paige, Halle, Javaun, Leighanna, Saige, Alyssa, Talyn, Anthony III, Faylynn, Uriah, Ashley, Jr., Caleb, Telea; great grandson, Ryan, Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary Spoonhunter, Deanna Deer Nose, Anita Spoonhunter, and Irene Warren; nephews, Clay Warren, Jerome Bell, Darrell Hanway, Jr., Matthew Watt, and Faith Kateri.
