Mary M. Abney died at her home in Riverton on Monday, May 17, 2010, at the age of 76.
Family graveside services will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
Mary McDonald Martin was born on Jan 10, 1934, in Red Lodge, Mont., and daughter of John D. Martin and Barbara (McDonald) Martin.
Mrs. Abney was a homemaker, having married William Erve Abney on March 17, 1953, in Red Lodge.
She had spent most of her adult life in the Riverton area, having moved with her husband to various oil fields from 1952 to 1960, then coming to Riverton. The couple first farmed in Missouri Valley and then moved to their home on West Park.
Her family said Mrs. Abney was an avid gardener, loved animals and enjoyed being a grandmother.
Survivors include her sons, John and his wife Shari of Craig, Colo., and Scott of Riverton; daughter, Charlene Abney and husband Joe McGinnis of New York; grandchildren, Christina Dawn Abney, Chance Douglas Abney; William Jackson Abney-McGinnis, and Jonathan Abney-McGinnis; a great grandson, Riley Abney; a sister, Minnie Barker and her husband Elvin of Billings, Mont.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Abney; a daughter, Valery Joe Abney, and a grandson, William James Abney.
