Clorinda “Clara” Olson, 89, of Shoshoni, Wyoming passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, in Phoenix, Arizona. A vigil service with rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Friday, February 28, 2025, at Shoshoni Catholic Church A funeral service will be held at 2:00 om on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the Shoshoni Catholic Church with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

 

Clorinda Eufelia Trujillo was born on March 6, 1935 in Ocate, New Mexico to Oliverio Trujillo and Carmelita Sandoval. She moved to Wyoming when she was 6 years old and attended Shoshoni School until the 9th grade.  Clara was well known by her nickname, PeeWee.

 

She married Benny Pete Maxwell and they had three sons together, Benny Pete Maxwell, Jr., Andy Pete Maxwell, and Ricky Lee Maxwell.  They later divorced.

 

On October 26, 1959, she Clara married Juan Chavez in Riverton, Wyoming.  The resided in Shoshoni and welcomed five children, Roxie Chavez, Rita Chavez, Fulencio Chavez, Brian T. Chavez and Stacie J. Chavez.  After many years of marriage, they parted ways, leaving her a single mother.

 

Clara worked many different jobs in her lifetime to support her family.  She was a waitress at Lakeside Café, Desert Inn Café and the Wrangler Café.  She also worked at the Yellowstone Drugstore. She worked as a caregiver at Homestead Living Center in Riverton and had several cleaning jobs.  She also did laundry services and ironed to make ends meet.  Clara was a very hard worker and enjoyed working with the public. 

 

On February 20, 1997, she married the love of her life, Greg A. Olson.  Together, they enjoyed fishing, boating and raised a big garden.  They remained in Shoshoni until his passing in 2012.

 

Clara was of the Catholic faith and had a strong relationship with God.  She loved attending church and she enjoyed praying and did so daily.  She never said “Goodbye,” it was always, “God bless you.”  She had a big heart and the kindest soul.  She also enjoyed gardening and working in her yard. She had one of the most beautiful yards in Shoshoni.  She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She leaves behind a big legacy with 9 children (4 living); 19 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

 

She is survived by her son, Brian T. Chavez; daughters, Rosie Chavez, Rita Liedy, and Stacie Chavez-Declue; best friends, Luz Ramirez and Kathy Blair; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her mother, father; brother; sister; sons, Benny Pete Maxwell, Andy Pete Maxwell, Ricky Lee Maxwell, Johnnie Allanis, and Fulencio Chavez; and. husband, Greg Olson
