Vernissa Jean Jorgenson
August 6, 1972 – February 19, 2025

Vernissa Jean Jorgenson, 52, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, after an extended illness.

She was born on August 6, 1972, in Lander, Wyoming, to Haroldine Whitewolf and Kenneth “Jerk” Jorgenson. Vernissa grew up on the Wind River Reservation, spending the majority of her life there, though she also lived in Idaho for a few years.

She attended Wyoming Indian High School and Shoshone-Bannock High School. She later worked as a typist for the Shoban News.

Vernissa was a loving mother, a cherished friend to many, and someone who brought joy to those around her with her caring and fun sense of humor. She loved spending time with family and friends, listening to all types of music, going to the casino, traveling, attending powwows, camping, and enjoying family cookouts.

She is survived by her mother, Haroldine Whitewolf; her godmother, Theresa M. Wells; aunt, Alberta J. Goggles, and their families; her children, Tressa Jorgenson, Daeshaun and Kenneth Ute, McKenna and Khylissa Whitewolf, Keith Armajo, and Brandon and Connor Whitewolf; and her siblings, Krista and Bryson Whitewolf, Toni Jorgenson, Orlena & Zola Killsontop, Julene Todd, Nadine and Richard Christian Jr., Willard Wells, Vonda, Theron, and Jay Wells, Joann Moss, Marie Snyder, and Algene and Carlton Gould.

The family apologizes if we left out anyone.  We have a big family and we appreciate and love everyone.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Theresa and George Whitewolf; her grandmother, Maude St. Clair; her grandfather, Rodney Jorgenson; her grandmother, Gladys Hill; her daughter, Samaria Lynn Jorgenson; and her sisters, Marlissa Jorgenson, Selena Surrell, Sammie Joe Ferris, Leah Farmer, Baby Magdaline, and Theresa E. Moss; brothers, Warren Jorgenson, the families of Jorgenson, Hill, Ferris, St. Clair, Oberly, Chavez, LeJeunesse, Gould, Wells, and Killsontop.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, Febr. 24, 2025 at Blue Sky Hall with burial to follow at Whiteplume Cemetery.  A prayer service will be 7:00 p.m., Sunday, Febr. 23, 2025 at Blue Sky Hall with wake to follow at her mother’s home, #2 Farm Station Road in Ethete.
