Ora I. Little, Sr.

Ora I. Little, Sr., was born on February 21, 1951, in Arapahoe, Wyoming, to Alferd Duran and Virginia May Caldwell Gunther.

 

Mr. Little passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Riverton, Wyoming.

 

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 13, 2025 at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.

 

Ora spent most of his life in Fremont County, though he also lived in Casper and Laramie, Wyoming. He was an enrolled member of the Northern Arapaho Tribe and took great pride in his Native American heritage. He attended Pow Wows and participated in the Sundance, honoring and preserving his culture. Ora pursued education at Arapahoe schools, Central Wyoming College, and the University of Wyoming.

He married Betty Dorothy, and though their union ended in divorce, they shared meaningful memories and three beautiful children Ora Jr, Owen and Corrina. He later married Mary Brooks, and that marriage also ended in divorce.

Ora worked tirelessly throughout his life. He was a dedicated farmer and spent time as a mechanic and service attendant at Phillips 66 in Lander, Wyoming. Ora was very excited and proud of pursuing his education through CWC to become a PE teacher. With this passion for education and helping others led him to serve as a substitute PE teacher at the Arapaho School in his early years. In his later years he became an aide and swim instructor at the Wyoming State Training School, where he retired.

Family was the heart of Ora’s world. He adored his children and grandchildren, taking immense pride in their achievements. He never missed an opportunity to attend their sporting events, choir performances, and band concerts. Ora had a fondness for life’s simple pleasures, enjoying a good smoke and his black coffee, while watching sports.

Ora’s legacy lives on in the memories and love of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his children, Ora I. (Becky) Little, Jr., Owen J. (Gina) Little, Corrina K. Little McKee; seven grandchildren, Jeremy Little, Brandy Little, Jacoby Little, Trevor Little, Layton Little, Elizabeth McKee and Amelia McKee; nine great grandchildren; sister, Donna (Brian) Erks.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alferd Duran; mother, Virginia May Caldwell Gunther; grandparents; brothers, George Caldwell and Kenny Gunther; numerous extended family members and his former wife, Betty (Dorothy) Little.
