Susan Marie (Lapeyre) Daniels
November 12, 1960 – March 8, 2025
Susan Marie (Lapeyre) Daniels, of Dubois, Wyoming, passed away suddenly on Saturday, March 8, 2025 in Dubois.
Sue was born in Riverton, Wyoming, on Saturday, November 12, 1960, to Bob and Sandy Lapeyre. Growing up with her two older brothers and three sisters, Sue developed a love for the outdoors and a wild sense of adventure. She never shied away from hard work and was known for her rough-and-tumble spirit.
Sue spent her early years helping her father with logging for the family-owned Lapeyre Construction. She held various jobs, but some of her favorite stories to tell involved cooking at hunting camp for Condict Outfitters at the lodge up Horse Creek.
In 1990, Sue decided to start a new adventure and moved to Saratoga, Wyoming. She found a new range of mountains to explore and ended up falling for a local mountain man who sang his way into her heart—Les Daniels. Susan and Les became instant best friends. They married on Saturday, September 3, 1994. The couple spent many years attending mountain rendezvous, where Sue enjoyed setting up camp and cooking for everyone while Les shot black powder competitively.
Making their home in Saratoga, Sue held various jobs—from cooking and caring for patients at Valley View Nursing Home to groundskeeping at Old Baldy Club for many years. Her final role was as a cook and custodian for the students in the Saratoga School District.
Sue was an active member of American Legion Post 54, where she once held the office of President of the Women's Auxiliary.
While she spent most of her adult life calling Saratoga home, she was able to return to Dubois to live the last year of her life.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband, Les Daniels; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Daniels; parents, Bob and Sandy Lapeyre; brother, Michael Lapeyre; and sister-in-law, Vickey Lapeyre.
She is survived by her stepdaughters: Charity Daniels and Brooke Daniels; granddaughter, Emma Daniels; sisters: Teresa Held, Kary (Bruce) Thompson, and Mary (Larry) Mullison; brother, John Lapeyre; and several nieces and nephews: Holly (Eric) Lapeyre, Mindy (Terry) Held, Julian Lapeyre, Woodson Held, Bobby Lapeyre, Tiffany (Zach) Gillaspey, Karla (Chris) Cochran, Kenny Lapeyre, Christy Lapeyre, and Cherish Lapeyre.
