Doris “Jeanie” Frazier, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Wind River Care and Rehabilitation Center in Riverton, surrounded by her family.
A vigil service with a rosary will be recited on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., with the wake to follow at Eagle Hall in St. Stephens. The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church, with burial to follow at the Arapaho Catholic Cemetery. A meal will be served afterward at Eagle Hall at St Stephen’s Indian Mission.
Jeanie Frazier was born on Thursday, October 26, 1950, in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, to the late Lloyd C. Frazier and Susanna (Addison) Frazier. She grew up in the Arapahoe, Wyoming, area and attended school in Flandreau, South Dakota. She later attended Central Wyoming College in Riverton, where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Theatre.
Jeanie met and married Walton H. Means in Pine Ridge, South Dakota. She followed him to Michigan and later joined him in California, where he was stationed in the Navy. They later divorced, and Jeanie traveled with her daughters, pursuing her career. She worked as a computer operator for oil companies, processing seismic data, which took her to Denver, Colorado, and Houston, Texas. In her later years, she moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, to care for her father, Lloyd.
Jeanie enjoyed reading and was always known for having a book in her hand, inspiring those around her to read.
She is survived by her children, Patrick Ernest Means, Susie (Gary) Antelope, and Esmeralda Tsosie; her brothers, Roger Frazier, Keith Frazier, and Robert “Robbie” Frazier; and her sister, Celia Farley. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Daniel Frazier, Raymond Frazier, Phillip Frazier, William (Kayla) Johns Jr., Flora Dewey, Melissa Frazier, Shawnda Frazier, Kristen Johns, Marlena Johns, Rhiannon Frazier, and Michelle Frazier.
Her grandchildren include Jamisina (Gabe) Webster, Nyla Reed, Oliver Reed, Timmy Hagar, Roy (Shanell) Shamblen, Rachel Dewey, Xavier Warren, Ben Warren III, Taylor CrazyThunder, Matthew CrazyThunder, Anthony Oldman, Daniel Oldman, Bethany Sankey, Adrienne Dewey, Alize Dewey, Aline Dewey, Tala Underwood, Nina Frazier, Daniel C. Frazier, Arianna Frazier, Brooklyn Frazier, Robert “Bob” Frazier, Gabriella Frazier, Bluebird Talksdifferent, Fear Talksdifferent, Mckenzie Johns, Micheal A. Johns, Jhani Johns, JayVonn Johns, Ade’lyn Johns, and William Johns III. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Serenity Armajo, Jayce Armajo, Leighanna James, Dreamer and Spirit Warrior Wallowingbull, Leonidas and Drego Anderson, Armani and Beretta Addison, Cyrus Jones, MaeLena, AnnDrea, Mikalo, Illarion CrazyThunder, River, and Miracle Todd.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd C. Frazier and Susanna (Addison) Frazier; her siblings, Catherine Frazier, Glen Frazier, Lloyd “Clem” Frazier, Mary Frazier, Calvin Frazier, and Harold “Pat” Frazier; as well as her nieces, Georianna Dewey, Angela Dewey, Susie Dewey, Regina Dewey, Cami Goodman-Means, and Amber Frazier. She was also preceded in death by her grandchildren, Rose Dewey, Blake Armajo Jr., Gregory Armajo, Elena Frazier, and Snowshield Talksdifferent.
Extended family members in Wyoming and South Dakota include the Frazier, Addison, Blackcrow, Whiteman, Goings, White, Means, Moss, Oldman, Brown, Blackhorse, Good Man, Badwound, Lakota, Apple, Farley, Richards, Spotted Bear, Lawrence, and Bassett families.
