In Loving Memory of George Robert Applehans

George Robert "Bob" Applehans, aged 84, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Riverton, Wyoming.

Bob was born on March 16, 1941, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, to George John and Elizabeth Applehans. From a young age, Bob worked tirelessly on his family's farm, embodying the values of discipline, integrity, and hard work that would define his character throughout his life.

After high school, he worked in the gas hills until he enlisted in the Army, where he was stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. Bob was known for his infectious smile and his love for Elvis Presley music.

Bob pursued his education at Chadron State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in business management. Throughout his professional career, he held various positions, including at US Energy, Brunton, and eventually retired from Wyoming Workforce Services. His colleagues and friends respected and admired him for his tenacious personality.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bob cherished his time with his beloved wife, Emma Lou, to whom he was devoted for 55 years. Together, they raised two sons and were blessed with grandchildren who brought immense joy into their lives. Bob was incredibly proud of his family's achievements and supported them wholeheartedly, attending school events, sports competitions, and various milestones with pride.

Bob is survived by his wife, Emma Lou; his sons, Scott Applehans and Dan (Cori) Applehans; his devoted sisters, Sharon (Tom) Umscheid and Judy (Larry) Holiday; as well as his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bob’s unwavering support and wisdom were a cornerstone for his family, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

In his final days, Bob remained surrounded by loved ones, finding peace and comfort in their presence. He faced his journey with remarkable grace and strength. Bob will be greatly missed, and we find comfort in knowing we will meet again.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to charity in Bob’s memory.
