Nathan Edward "Bud" Hindman
September 5, 1941 – March 31, 2025
Nathan Edward Hindman, known to family and friends as Bud, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, March 31, 2025, at the age of 83.
Bud was born on September 5, 1941, in Jackson, Wyoming, to Frank Delbert Hindman and Thelma Ruth Shinkle Hindman. He grew up in Jackson and graduated from Jackson High School with the Class of 1959. In 1980, he and his family moved to Crowheart, where he spent the remainder of his life.
Bud honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War as a Radio Operator. For his service, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged in July of 1967.
On November 30, 1969, Bud married Marlyn Pennington in Jackson, Wyoming, and together they built a life filled with love and adventure.
Bud was a hardworking man who held many roles throughout his life. He managed the Cowboy Bar in Jackson, fed elk on the National Elk Refuge, and worked as a carpenter, running his own shop, U Lazy S, where he specialized in lodgepole furniture.
In his free time, Bud enjoyed rock hunting and coin collecting. He was also a proud member of the Crowheart Fire Department, serving his community with dedication.
Bud is survived by his loving wife, Marlyn; son, Nate Hindman and wife Roxanna; grandchildren, Ranelle, Reata, and Reece Hindman; brother, Delbert Hindman and wife Susan; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Thelma Ruth Hindman; brother, Jim Hindman; and sisters, Frankie McAtee and Bonnie Franz.
In accordance with Bud’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Crowheart Community Center to celebrate his life.
