Memorial services for Kenneth J. "Tom" Thompson of rural Shoshoni will be at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3, at the First Baptist Church in Shoshoni.

Mr. Thompson died at his home in Wind River Canyon Thursday afternoon, July 29, 2010, at the age of 73.

Kenneth J. Thompson was born in Detroit, Mich., the son of Kenneth W. Thompson and Florence M. (Crossley) Thompson. He attended school in Manistique, Mich.

On June 13, 1958, Mr. Thompson married Dorothy H. Barber in Manistique.

He lived the first 52 years of his life in Upper Michigan, 12 years in Alaska including 10 years in Dutch Harbor, and moved to the local area 10 years ago.

Mr. Thompson was a master plumber and had been self-employed all his life. He worked with his father until his father's death and then assumed the business himself.

He coached Little League baseball in Michigan and Thermopolis and coached girls' softball in Thermopolis.

His family said Mr. Thompson was an avid hunter who also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and most sports, but his biggest interest, they said, was his family.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Dorothy H. Thompson of rural Shoshoni; sons, Kenneth T. "Rowdy" (Susan) Thompson of Cabot, Ark., and Clifford J. "Joe" (Shannon) Thompson of Wright; daughter, Tami M. (Russell) Jindra of Glenallen, Ark., and Terri L. (Steve) Wolfe of Casper; 11 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Arlene (Wayne) Hill of Gwimn, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Michael Thompson, and a sister, Sally Bear.
