Funeral services for Wind Thunder Delphine "Del" Tarness of Crowheart are at noon on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Rocky Mountain Hall at Fort Washakie. Pastor Don Nemec officiates.
Interment will be at the Sacajawea Cemetery in Fort Washakie.
A wake will be held at the family home, 8262 US Hwy. 26/287 beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19, followed by a service at 7 p.m.
Mr. Tarness, also known as "Little Dad," died in a one-vehicle accident on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. He was 23.
Wind Thunder Delphine Tarness was born in Lander on June 28, 1987, the son of Julius Tarness, Sr., and Pamela (Pogue) Hereford. He was a life-long resident of the Crowheart area.
He was graduated from Wind River High School at Pavillion with the Class of 2006. He was baptized and confirmed in the Wind River Lutheran Church at Fort Washakie.
Mr. Tarness worked as a laborer in road construction for the Shoshone/Arapaho Transportation and ranched with his family at Crowheart.
His family said Mr. Tarness' main interest was taking care of his mother and enjoyed logging, was an avid horseman, enjoyed helping other ranchers, hunting, horn collecting, taking long walks, and hiking.
