Tuesday December 28th after a long illness, the Lord received into his arms our loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother Irene Meineke. Irene was born September 11, 1922 in Olney Springs, Colorado to Peter and Bessie Winterowd. She graduated from Waverly High School in Colorado and helped support her family through the height of the Great Depression. September 19, 1946 she married the love of her life, Roger L. Meineke and together they raised 6 children; Wanda (Bill) Carey, Terrance (Sandra) Meineke, Lloyd (Karol) Meineke, Bryson (Marie) Meineke, Bradley (Brenda) Meineke and Rhonda (Bob) Waite. She is also survived by her loving brother, Irvin Winterowd. Other members of the family that grieve her passing are 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Also a special "grandson" Kye. A special thanks goes to her grandson, Alex Waite, who patiently cared for her during the last few months of her life. Irene lived most of her life in Colorado and worked for many years in the Colorado Arsenal. However for the last 15 years she has lived in Riverton to be close to her daughters. Mom loved gardening, sewing, reading and being with her grandchildren. Irene is preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, 2 sisters and a grandson, Robbie Carey. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent through Davis Funeral Home addressed to Rhonda Waite, for the grandchildren’s college fund. Services will be held at the Davis Funeral Home, Tuesday January 2 at 2:00 PM. A celebration of her life will be held at the VFW following the services.
