Jack Earl Oaks

Jack Earl Oaks, 87, of Riverton, Wyoming, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Jack was born on Sunday, August 8, 1937, in Veteran, Wyoming, to Earl William Oaks and Julia (Cochrane) Oaks. He was one of nine children and was baptized into the Catholic faith. He graduated from Veteran High School in 1956 and went on to earn an associate’s degree in Forestry Management from Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyoming.
On Friday, November 10, 1961, Jack married Dorothy Belle Bailey in Gering, Nebraska. In 1966, they moved to Rawlins, Wyoming, where Jack began working at Tom’s Body Shop. Over the years, he worked in several body shops before eventually opening his own—Jack’s Body and Fender Shop—where he worked until retiring in 2004.
After retirement, Jack and Dorothy moved to Riverton to be closer to family. He was an avid sportsman who loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He loved doing anything with family and his grandkids, be it cards or horseshoes, he was game.
Jack is survived by his son, Brian Oaks and wife Janell of Riverton, Wyoming; daughter, Susan Yount and husband Steve of Cheyenne, Wyoming; seven grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Dottie Lewis of Arkansas, Jim (Merrie) Oaks of Illinois, and Bob (Julie) Oaks of Wyoming; as well as sisters-in-law, Elva, Helen, and Jean.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Julia Oaks; his beloved wife, Dorothy ”Dot” Oaks; and five of his siblings.
