Services for former Riverton resident Esther Comings will be conducted at 9 am, Wednesday, Aug. 15 at the Davis Funeral Home in Riverton.
Mrs. Comings died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Heritage Estates in Scottsbluff, Neb. at the age of 84.
Esther Zellmer was born Aug. 16, 1922, in Jackson, Minn., the eldest of three children born to Edward and Jennie Zellmer. The family then moved to Prairie Farm, Wis. She was educated in Wisconsin schools, being graduated from Horicon High School in 1940.
She worked for an attorney following graduation. During World War II, she was a senior secretary at Badger Ordinance Works, and later worked for an electrical engineering firm in Madison, Wis.
She married W. S. "Bill" Comings, Jr. on June 26, 1948 in Sparta, Wis. The couple moved to St. Paul, Minn., and then to Garrison, N.D., Cody, and in 1963 to Riverton.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Riverton.
Her family said she enjoyed family and friends, loved flowers, good music, taking pictures, as well as collecting and creating holiday items along with many other crafts. She helped organize a local women’s weekly coffee club of approximately 70 members, an afternoon bridge group and a monthly gourmet luncheon club.
Survivors include her children, W. S. Comings and wife Neita of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan Guile and husband Alan of Lander, Mary Comings of Lander, and Robert Comings and wife Maureen of Scottsbluff, Neb.; five grandchildren; a sister, Lois Nestingen; a brother, Ed Zellmer, and a special friend Albert Lucero.
Her husband and her parents preceded her in death.
