Funeral services for Minetta Clara Hornecker of Lander are at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17, at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lander. Pastor Vernon Boehlke officiates. Interment follows at the Hornecker Family Cemetery. Viewing is from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, at the Bethel Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Hornecker died at her rural Lander home on Sunday morning, June 12, 2011. She was 81, having been born on Aug. 16, 1929, to Fredrich and Henrietta (Rieman) Beneke in Dickinsen, N.D.
She was of the Lutheran faith and a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church. Her family said Mrs. Hornecker enjoyed her family, especially her great grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, and award winning wine making.
Mrs. Hornecker is survived by two sons, Fred and Jean of Gillette, and Jim and Leah of Lander; four daughters, Joyce and Gene of Salome, Ariz., Bonnie and Roger of Lander, Linda of Lander, and Susan and Aaron of Montrose, Colo.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandson; a sister, Laverene Johnson of Anaconda, Mont.; brother-in-law, Donald and Shirley Hornecker; sisters-in-law, Betty May Matheson and Marietta and Ancel Twitchell of Fort Washakie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; son, Kenneth Dean; parents; two grandsons, Aaron Myers and Aaron Silva; four brothers, Bill, Elroy, Ira, and Louie Beneke; two sisters, Leora Grieve and Mildred Johnson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
