I was so saddened to hear of that Dale Smith had died. He taught me everything I know about journalism and radio and really mentored me when I was studying at Central Wyoming College in the early 1990s. Even after completing a Master’s degree in communications a few years ago and studying other subjects post-grad, I can honestly say that he was the best professor I’ve ever had. He inspired me, mentored me and encouraged me to pursue my dreams and was a wonderful friend for 20 years. The world has lost someone incredibly impressive and so honest and true that words can’t really describe him.
Rest in peace, Dale Smith. I love you.

I was also honored to be there the night he was on the computer and i asked him if he just saw a goast he told me i think so. i later found out he ha djust reconeted with his life long love. to see they joy his eye was amazeing
and i dont think any of us will ever forget his funny side (By my fence) i hope that some day i can be half the man he was or touch half the harts he did
you are in my hart and prayers
"its easy to start walking just get off your butt and take the step down the road and when ya get there you hart will tell you " Dale Smith
Dale was a man's man. He was master of the one liners. He made Will Rogers look like a "slacker."
I am honored that he would keep in touch with me all these years and keep me up to date on his "blessed life."
I'd run with Dale in high school to glean from his wisdom. His voice has always been distinctive. When he came to see me several years ago he said,"you don't know who I am, do you?" Honestly, I didn't, until he spoke. That distinctive "radio voice" came through.
Dale was always passionate about his interests, and his intrests knew no bounds.
Dale had friends from "both sides of the track." He could communicate with anyone. He had all his teachers "snowed." He had no enemies that I ever knew of.
I consider it an honor to have been his friend.
I trust that his sweet family, which he loved dearly, will call on me if I can ever be of service to them in any way at any time.
