Day, William W. "Bill"
Robert & Marion Black - 11/7/2011
Dear Carol and Family,
Lorraine and I send our deepest sympathies and love to you at this time of sorrow and loss. We share your grief and pain. Bill and I had become as brothers and often spoke of this bond between us. When we first met in Jackson Hole in 1993 the friendship ignited. We had not served together and at the same time with the 300th AFA Bn in Korea, but had both been with the unit in the war and had strong feelings for the Battalion, its outstanding service, and its men. The rest is history and witnessed by you as we worked, visited, and enjoyed 300th AFA functions in the ensuing years.
We are still in shock and disbelief. May the Devine Providence give you the strength and carry you and yours through this time and may His blessings be with you now and always.
Yours in Love and Sympathy,
Don & Lorraine
Dear Carol, Linda and Garry,
We have so many memories of our next door neighbors Bill & Carol.
Bill sure knew how to fix a good breakfast. We were always excited to be invited over for breakfast. He enjoyed company so much.
Carol, remember when I torn my rotator cuff and you would send Bill over to help me of a morning, because you were on crutches and Ron was out of town. The stories that could create.
There was the on-going competition to see whether Ron or Bill could draw in the most hummingbirds to the feeders. I think Bill won each year!
Sorry to hear of Bill's passing, he will be missed. Your're in our thoughts.
Brenda & Ron
Carol, I know that the loss of Bill has brought great sadness to you and your family. My heart goes out to you and my prayers are with you. I know that what I am about to say is well known to you and your family and many others, but I feel compelled to say it anyway. Bill was one of the finest men I have known in my entire life. During the time I spent with him in the service in Korea, his courage, dedication to his duty and dedication to his men was a great inspiration to me. My admiration of him is undimished by the years gone by.
God Bless You And You Family. I know that Bill has his place in Heaven.

To the family and friends of Bill Day, Bill was one of the people that made a difference in my life and gave me the ability and confidence to succeed! I will always be thankful to him and his family for these attributes as a fine person and educator! I regret I only learned of his passing this morning (Wed. 9 Nov.) and will not be able to attend the service.
I truely feel honored to have known him and having been able to study under him.

Dr. Day was my nuclear science teacher in high school at Hong Kong International School...it must have been 1985. He was a fantastic teacher! That is one of the few classes from high school that I remember distinctly...it was definitely a hard class, but I learned a ton and ended up doing well. I think he might be happy to know I have become a scientist. I'm sure his teaching had something to do with that!
Melissa McPheeters - 11/15/2011Dr. Day, you left a positive impression on your students. I graduated from HKIS in 1989, and you are one of those teachers who left a lasting impression on my life. I wish I could have told you how fondly I remember you, so many years later - I am now 40!
I always struggled terribly with math and science, and had Dr. Day for physics my senior year. From the first day of that class, which I was scared to even take, he believed in me. He spent extra time with me working through some of the more complex equations and... I GOT it! Until today, I think he is the only teacher who ever took the time to really work with me to help me get it - and even though I struggled so, he somehow knew I could get it. I now hold 2 masters degrees in business, and work in Silicon Valley in marketing. Had he not helped me prove to myself that I could get it, I'm not so sure I would have had the faith that I could pass the math required for my advanced business degrees. I was also a pro at getting off the hook and being able to talk my way out of doing the homework and studying required - and Dr. Day did not let me get away with that. He made me really try.
I attended University of Wyoming on his recommendation, eventually transferring to CU Boulder. It is because of Dr. Day I ended up in the Rocky Mountain West, and I thank him for that too. It is a beautiful place to be.
I'll never forget my first day of class with him, and he asked me in front of the class, "from which parent did you get those pretty blue eyes?" and I replied "both!" and he said something like "that explains it!"... I was complimented - and in front of all my classmates, it was great!
I want his family to know how fondly he will be remembered. Rest peacefully, Dr. Day.
Dr. Day was my physics teacher in Hong Kong and he made it all seem so exciting. He was a wonderful man and an inspired educator. My condolences to his family.
Tracy Jasnowski - 11/15/2011Dr. Day is remembered well by his students at HKIS...I was in his physics class in 1989 and he helped a lot of us hopeless students see the light at the end of the tunnel. He was an "old-school" teacher in the best way, expecting us to step up and learn :)
It was nice to read about the aspects of his life we did not know about. He was a good man as well as a good teacher.
All sympathy to his family and friends.

Thank you Dr. Day for your service to the country, and for your works as a teacher at HKIS. I remember your great sense of dedication, humor and care for all of the students.
