My wonderful Aunt Vie,
Our 1000 mile journey to see you in July was the best gift we could have given ourselves. You were at your best: alert, dressed in style, loved the outdoor air, talked of days gone-by, ready for the camera, enjoyed your evening meal, and we held hands with a woman of strength and determination. My tears flowed when I said good-bye that day and flow as I write this farewell. May you rest with those that have passed before you and dance with loved ones. Please give my dad and mom (your sister) a special kiss for me.
Forever, your niece Deanna Jones Keyawa

Vie was what my friends call "a force of nature!" We were so blessed to have both Vie and Hank in our lives. They took us into their home and their community of friends and neighbors and made us feel a part of their lives. Very few people ever get to experience unconditional love, but Vie was able to give that gift. We did not get to visit her as often as we wished in the last few years, but every time we stopped in to see her it was like we'd never left. Hers was a life well-lived and a model for us all.
