Moen, Melvin "Mel"
Rest in Peace Mel. You were the "best" friend
to everyone. We will miss you at the Senior Center.
I'll miss seeing his smile whenever I saw him and Mrs. Moen out, whether it was at Wal-Mart, the Farmer's Market or anywhere else. He was a wonderful optician, always enjoyed going in to get my glasses adjusted. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Judy Hubbard - 8/15/2013Veronica & Pat,

Aunt Veronica and Cousin Patty. Words cannot express the sadness I feel at the passing of Uncle Mel. There are so many fond memories of your visits to the farm in North Dakota. The times Mel and Dad spent together were cherished moments for Dad and are touchstone memories for me and I am sure for my brothers and sisters as well. Pam and I regret we cannot attend the memorial services but please know we are thinking of you and that you are in our prayers.
Don & Pam Koetter - 8/16/2013Veronica & Patty, Mel was a favorite uncle. Every time you visited with Mel you went away with a smile and great memories. He never seemed to age or change - always full of life, smiles and jokes. He will be missed

Veronica and Pat we express our deepest sympathy to both of you. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love and prayers,
To Mel's family~
We express our sympathy for your loss of such a kind, kind man. So many years he took care of us as we lived through lots of broken glasses. He always ordered 'two' pair of frames so he'd be ready with extra parts!!
May lots of happy memories fill your hearts.
Dear Veronica and Patty,
My heart goes out to you both in this time of sorrow. You have lost a very dear husband and father, and we have lost a really cool uncle. Those Moen uncles have always been the best. Take Care you two! Love you both! Becky Holen
Mrs. Moen and Patti,
For so many years, people of all ages in Fremont County, counted on Mr. Moen to fix our glasses. He was simply "the best." He made sure the fit was absolutely correct and he loved knowing his patients. Having him fix your glasses was not a chore, but rather a bright spot in our days because he made everyone feel as though there was nothing more important than the person right in front of him. I haven't lived in Riverton for many years, but when I get fitted for glasses or have an adjustment, I always think of Mr. Moen and wish I was sitting across the table from him.
He made such a lasting impression on generations of Fremont County residents by his many kind acts. Please accept my deepest sympathies.
Veronica & Patty
Will echo Connie Hirz's thoughts. In the years spent away from Riverton, other eye care professionals marveled at his "Norveegian" repair of plastic frames--nose bridges frequently broke. Drill a couple of holes, several loops of fishing line fused with heat/glue, and presto--frames repaired without replacement! Not only saved money but also turn around time for the sight-challenged. All done with a joke or story which sent you away smiling or laughing.
I now visualize this: At the gates of Heaven, "Knock, knock" jokes or "Say, St. Peter, have you heard the one about the guy from Montana who..."
He will be missed; I'm sorry for your loss.
Mel certainly did bring a smile to the faces of all he met. He was one of the first people we met when we moved to Riverton and one of the kindest people we have ever known. And what a delightful sense of humor! Have fun in heaven, Mel. I am sure God is enjoying your jokes. Thank you Mel, for your kindness and all you did to bring happiness to your many friends.

Veronica & Pat:
I think I can speak for the extended Moen family and say that we have lost a family treasure.
I have read the kind notes others have left in the guestbook and it is apparent that Melvin has shared his warmth and sense of humor willingly with everyone. I'm sure it is what the Moen family will miss the most about Uncle Mel.
I have many fond memories of Melvin (and Veronica), he will truly be missed.
My sincere condolences to you all. Your Dad's smile and ready laugh was always so infectious.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Mel will remain in our hearts forever. Peace, Prayers and blessings....
Thanks for helping me to see things in a diffreent light.
