Mr Bill was one of the great highlights of the High School Rodeo reel! He was truly a REALLY NICE MAN, and will always be remembered by our family and missed as well. Good Bye Mr. Bill.

What a loss. Bill was a gentle soul and a gentleman, even back in high school. Even from a distance, his centeredness around family and nature always taught me. I'm so so sorry, Rachel, for the pain you and your family are facing right now. I hope eventually Christmas becomes a bittersweet time again, with more emphasis on the bitter than the sweet. I treasure our long connection, and send you strength, love and peace. Jacqui

You are and have been in my thoughts and prayers.. I can't remember a time when I saw Bill that he didn't have that amazing smile.

There is an old cowboy addage which says you learn much about a man when you ride with him. I rode with Bill a number to times - pack trips into the high country, our adventures on the Wyoming Centennial Wagon Train. He was one of the best - always there to lend a hand. I remember up on the Yellowstone he jumped on his Appy horse bareback to chase down my run-a-way mules. In my association with Bill, he was truely a good man. He touched my life and made it better.

First, we are so very sorry for your loss. I read the comments posted; those are all statements I share. Bill was always just so nice to me, always a smile. And ever patient when I would come in with glasses twisted or bumped, silly me!

Second, I am also sorry to say that John and I will be unable to share in Bill's funeral Mass. It certainly was our intent to come, however, my cousin's husband died the same night, so his funeral is the same day in Cheyenne. Be assured that we are with you all in Spirit, loving you and sending long distance hugs.

Our love to Rachel and children. You are wonderful people and we are sorry for your loss.

Thanks for sharing your husband/Dad with us. We are blessed.

Love and prayers,
John and Jeanne Van Heule

Dear Rachel and family,
It is with a heavy heart that I write this message to you. You were truly blessed to have Bill in your lives even though he was called back by His Maker to heaven so soon. He was a such a spirited person with a joyful personality that radiated out to touch everyone he knew. He and I enjoyed sharing some Polish phrases together, as well as dancing the polka! Rest assured that he is in God's house; his peace and joy is boundless even though you are all grieving his loss now. Harold also sends his love and condolences. He will truly miss swapping hunting stories with Bill.

We will be in Phoenix visiting family and will not be in town for his funeral. You are all in our hearts and prayers now and in the days ahead.

First he took care of my shoes and then he took care of my glasses. Always had a smile on his face - a really great guy. Am so sorry for your loss - God bless you all in your sorrow.

Please accept my sincere condolences of your loss Of Bill. He was a courageous man and fought a long battle. I used to enjoy him and his wife while they were dancing, they were so good, Bill was so light on his feet, truly loved watching them dance. Bill was loved by all people that needed him to adjust their glasses, always a friendly smile with helpful hands. Bill will be missed for a long long time. My thoughts and prayers, may God be with you and bless your families, giving you peace and comfort. Jeannie Portlock

Rachel and family,
You've lost the king-pin of your family, but his legacy of love, laughter and living life to the fullest will continue to hold you all together during this rough time.
While I availed my family and myself of Bill's skills from working wonders with footwear to challenging eyewear adjustments, I also could count on leaving with a smile on my face. Whether it was exchanging jokes, witticisms, or serious discussions of worldly things, Bill had a way of not only "fixing" eyewear but also mental focus and vision--to the positive.
He loved his work and he loved interacting with people. However, he took his work seriously; I never knew him to throw in that towel on his shoulder--he followed through until it was right. I believe that must have been how he lived all facets of his life.
You all were very fortunate to have shared that with a fellow I fondly called "slacker"--and he was anything but that...
Happy trails, Bill! You are going to be missed by so many folks whose lives you touched in such a meaningful way.
