Hatfield, Nathan Daniel
My heart was heavy when I heard about Nate. I still remember him and Avery riding their bikes to Little League baseball games. It seemed he took his responsibility as a brother and player seriously. He was a good, kind leader to the younger kids when my son played ball with him. He was a well rounded and respected young man. I can't imagine the pain your family is going through but know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May God's grace comfort you in the loss of this young man.
Tania Baker - 1/23/2014Dearest Nathan and his sweet family,
My heart goes out to you all in this difficult time. Nathan was such an amazing man and he will be missed dearly. Nathan was so much fun as a child! We always had the best time! My family will keep you in our prayers and our hearts forever. Love your cousin, Hailey Lund-Williams and our family.
My heart is very heavy right now for Nathan, and his family. I did not know Nathan or his family. The picture shows him as a very happy, fun, loving and a wonderful smile to. I can almost picture him dancing, He must have loved music a lot to participate in such classes. This is such a sad loss for such very talented young boy. My thoughts and prayers are for all the family and praying that God will Intervene with His Love and Power to give you Peace and Comfort, and Understanding during this saddest time ever. Love and Prayers, Jeannie Portlock
Jeannie Portlock - 1/23/2014Dear Nate,
I knew you as a child and by the looks of it you grew into a stunning young man. Your smile could light up the night and your laughter was the music of angels. You had a gentle heart and a giving nature in all situations. I'm sorry I didn't get to see you grow up. I know your family is proud of you. Rest and be well Nate, you have a community that will forever carry you in our hearts.
Tash, Kevin and family,

Kevin Tasha and family,
It is impossible to say how heartbreaking this tragedy is for you. Only someone that has been in your situation can begin to realize what you are going through and the pain you feel. The last thing anyone would ever want to imagine is losing a child at such a young age. I hope our words and thoughts of you guys during this time of grief and sadness give you at least a touch of comfort knowing we are there for you even at a distance so far. You are wonderful parents and have done a great job raising all of your children and you will continue to do so. Don't feel as if you could have done more, Nate is the only one that knows what he was going through and no one can be a mind reader or tell the future. We are keeping you in our prayers and thoughts are with you now and always as you struggle through the tough times and look forward to a brighter future. Uncle Dave & Aunt Stephanie

Janette DeVeny - 1/24/2014Your family is in our prayers. This is such a difficult reality to live. Our daughter was killed around the same time, nearly three years ago, also when a senior at RHS. Words can not express the thoughts, prayers, and love our family sends to yours. May God cover you and help you daily.
Michelle & Aaron Carr - 1/25/2014I met Nate for the first time on a beautiful and clear weekend in Seattle for Gracie's wedding. We were all trick-or-treating through the halls of a local hotel the night after the wedding, and Nate really got a kick out of the ugly costume my dad was wearing. He had so much fun with everyone, was such a personable kid, and a joy to hang out with. My only wish is that I could have hung out with him more than just that weekend. My heart goes out to Natasha, Kevin, and family. Love you all!

Natasha, Kevin and Family,
Your lives permanently changed in less than a fraction of a second and we're very sorry. Everyone who ever knew Nate or family has had their lives touched in some way or another. Many lives changed by the way Nate lived with a loving heart, enormous energy, distinctive laughter, and simply a great child. The loss of Nate and pain you are enduring is incomprehensible.
We can’t even begin to understand the depth of loosing your child, brother, son, grandson, friend. Everyone loved Nate with all their heart and soul. Some seldom saw him, others often, and yet everyone walked away a better person because of his life.
Know you have set healthy boundaries and provided Nate with love and guidance. As you go through the grieving process keep in mind that you are not responsible for another human’s actions, reactions, or inactions and that includes your own children, grandchildren, siblings, family or friends.
We send our love across the miles in this time of sudden loss of Nate. We are available to help when you need it. With the overwhelming love and support from family, friends and community in the immediate situation we are choosing to make ourselves available when “life goes on” and life seems difficult while grieving continues for a while.
It’s a difficult time trying to adjust, readjust, over-adjust, under-adjust ... it’s all about adjustment and adapting yet individualistic. Take whatever time you need as you choose to survive, take care of yourselves, and support the children involved so you can all open your hearts and minds to healing.
While you grieve Nate’s passing remember we are here for you and supportive in whatever way we can. We can be there for all of when you feel the need. Just let us know.
We pray you embrace the future for everyone, [especially the children left behind], and grow from the past … incorporating all those joyful and difficult moments that included Nate.
God Bless and Keep You Always. Take care and stay safe.
With Love from Across the Miles,
Aunt Edie and Uncle Al
Adrian, Our deepest sympathy and love for you and the rest of Nathan's family is with you today and always
as you go through this very difficult time. To have a child, Love him, care for him nuture and watch him grow
and then have that precious life taken at such an early age has got to be the most difficult thing a parent
ever has to do. In time the pain will subside, but the thoughts, love and memories will always remain in the lives
of everyone who's heart he touched Hoping he is at peace. Our deepest love and sorrow are with you today and always.
So sorry to hear about your loss of Nathan. My thoughts and prayers to everyone.

Much love and hugs surround you now and forever. Please know that you all will be in my thoughts during this difficult time.

Nate and I weren't super close ever but I did know Nate through band. He was a couple years younger than me but that didn't matter. We had fun on the many bus rides across the state, pep band games, and breaks during marching camp and Tuesday night marching practices. His laugh was contagious and could always brighten my day. Nate was a truly amazing guy with the biggest heart I have ever heard of or experienced. He was a loyal friend and someone who will truly be missed. Although Nate and I didn't hang out much he still made an impact in my life. I'm glad I had the opportunity to know such a great young man. Thank you Nate for being a blessing in my life.
