Huenefeld, Ray
Your Dad was always the entertainer of our get-togethers. His musical talent was amazing, and what a show-man. His family is his wonderful legacy. I am sorry he isn't with us anymore. Hugs to all.
Jan Jensen - 11/2/2016Dear cousins, my heart is with you during these difficult days, and you have been on my mind and in my prayers. I have such fond memories of time spent on Grandma and Grandpas farm each summer, but I also hold dear the memories of time spent with your family in your home and roaming your various pieces of property. Your Mom and Dad were always so generous about opening their home to me. Those memories are among some of the best of my childhood.
These Huenefeld men though characters to be sure, were salt of the earth kind of guys. They are a rich link to our past, and to a better time in our countries history. They had integrity and a sense of duty and responsibility, they were good husbands and providers. It’s hard to say goodbye for so many reasons, and it is the end of an era.
As some of you know, I was able to see Uncle Ray this summer, after many (too many) years. It was such a delight to see him and Uncle Roy together. They sang and took a bit of a stroll down memory lane. Though that lane was pretty short due to memory issues, it was no less precious. I am so grateful for that time. These Uncles trigger such good memories of my own dad too.
I hope that this weekend brings the necessary love, tears and laughter, fellowship and closure that you need to heal and move forward. Lots of love to you all,
Leighann Bottemiller and family
I am ever so sorry to hear this news of Great Uncle Ray’s passing and would like to send my deepest condolences. The news brought tears to my eyes and made my heart heavy, but thankfully also brought sweet, precious memories of my time with him this past summer. I cannot exclaim how thankful I am that I got to meet him along with more of you Huenefeld’s. I treasure those dear memories and left part of my heart in Wyoming after we left. Family is extremely important to me and having the opportunity to connect with you all and learn about my history was such a rich and beautiful experience. I was never able to meet my grandpa, but meeting his brothers revealed a little piece of him to me and allowed me to connect with him in a special way. Thank you all and thank you Uncle Ray! I will never forget sitting in the nursing home with Ray and Roy listening to them sing, reminisce, and quarrel. They are two characters for sure, but very beloved characters. It was very difficult to leave the home and say goodbye to Uncle Ray. I am sending you all my prayers and love. Have a blessed weekend celebrating a dear life.
Blessings,
Abbey Bottemiller (Leighann Bottemiller's daughter)
