Tanner Stover

Stover, Tanner

Dear Stover Family,

Please know you have my deepest condolences. I am so sorry over your loss and, like so many others, feel his absence. I met Tanner in December 2014 when I started working out at Iron Works. I quickly came to admire his tenacity, sense of humor and overall character. As his ambitions grew toward being a trainer, I benefited from his advice and knowledge. I always thought that Tanner was someone a father could hope his own son would emulate. Over the years my admiration for him grew as the young man began to grow. He became like family to me and I soon felt a sense of responsibility for him. I did my best to encourage him and let him know I cared about his future and well-being.

I will miss him.

I will never forget the kindness Tanner always showed me. Over the last couple years, we spent the majority of our working days together, I was so excited for him when he finally became a fellow Personal Trainer this year! He was always so supportive to everyone, and such a gentleman to me and my clients.

I will always remember his genuine encouragement and positivity towards my strength training when others questioned it. We tried to push each other to try harder. He seemed to be on the same wave length, we understood what each other was thinking in a glance. On days when I was feeling down, he would always cheer me up by teasing about bicep curls... other times we knew we just needed the other one to listen about our griefs.

Tanner was the king of deadlifts, we plan on emphasizing that lift at Battle Under the Bar in his honor. I hope every roll of thunder is a new personal record for his deadlifts.

He left us too soon, because I know he had many more great things to give this world. He touched so many lives, and we are grateful for him.

Tanner, you will most certainly be missed. I will miss your smiles and encouragement. You genuine interest in others and your capacity to teach all of us to be better, lift better, and improve our stance. You will be remembered well dear friend as a great person to call on for examples, or extraordinary maneuvers no one else could pull off. God Speed Superman.

I had the privilege of having Tanner as a student and as an athlete at Wind River. He always came with a great attitude and made everyday better for everyone. His passing brought tears to my eyes. I don't have a lot of students that stick out in my mind in such a positive way as Tanner does.

Condolences,

Thursday evening after you completely burned out my legs and I was almost crawling to the bike to do my cool down I remember looking in the cage and you were squatted down texting someone and you had a huge smile on your face I remember thinking hahaha he's talking to a girl. Then Friday, as like every Friday I went to meet you at 4pm. Standing there waiting for you to work out and you didn't show up. It wasn't like you to not show up. Getting the news that you passed was a huge blow. You seen me at my weakest, pushed me to finish "pretty" and taught me how important it was to reach my goal. Everyday you asked if I was ready for the pain. With that smile on your face. I will miss that and your girly butt (inside joke).
You will be missed great one.
Fyi I'm still feeling leg day. I bet your laughing about that.
Fly high big man.

I had the opportunity to be Tanner's teacher and coach. He was a wonderful young man that was always willing to go the extra mile for the people around him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Justin Walker

Today we take a moment of silence to honor not only our friend but our brother. Tanner you touched each of us in your own unique way, you always had a smile on your face, a kind word for everyone who crossed your path, and yes a reality check when we needed one and we all know we did from time to time. For all of that we thank you and will hold your memory in our hearts forever. I know that this is said all the time, but the world lost a good man and heaven gained a great angel. Tanner watch over us all, rest well friend.

I pray for you, the Stover family during this difficult time. May my Heavenly Father comfort you, hold you and wipe your tears.
Tanner was a delightful young man. I was blessed to have had Tanner cross my pathway.
Father, do the work and do as you said. Assure them that you are right there with them, to help them with your loving arms around them. Amen.
