Condolences to the Kenny Monroe family.

I had the pleasure of playing with Kenny in the Hummer Moon Society Band for many years. We had the best time. Plus many hours of practice.

Over the past year or so I also had the occasional pleasure of talking on the phone with Kenny about many things but mostly about music.

A few years ago Kenny told me he had lived in the Los Angeles area as I had. Turns out we had lived within a mile or so of each other at one time.

I had talked to Kenny about a week or so before he made the journey. He had indicated that he was at peace and seemed to be ready for the journey. I am, right now, very moved by that conversation.

I wish I could be at the services but circumstances prevent me from being there. However, be assured that I will be thinking of Kenny as he is laid to rest.

My thoughts & prayers are with you all. We can find comfort knowing Kenny is with our creator now, no more pain. Keep your memories of all the good & he will live on in your heart.
