Dick was a force to be reckoned with. What a pleasure and honor to have gotten to know him.
He put his knowledge and expertise to work and we have all benefited from it.

I’ve known Dick for over 40 years, but Mary Ellen for 50+. I first worked with Dick 41 years ago, and know him to be a man who could BS with the best of them. He was instinctively a good businessman, he served his clients well, and lived through many adventures, some to his peril. He was respected in his field and his work will endure for many years to come. There were some tough times for old Dick, but now he is reunited with his wife and sons. Deepest sympathies to those he leaves behind, Mary Ellen, and Lee Ann, and your families-the remaining “crew” at Apex are wishing you comfort during this difficult time.

What a wonderful and gracious man Dick was. When I would stop by his office at Apex to visit about water rights and irrigation projects he was always willing to visit as long as I had questions, but our conversation would always end up about mules and the backcountry. The heck with water rights, we had important stuff to talk about, like all the trails and country we both rode and new so well. He was one of those rare men that was larger than life, and God Bless him.

My heartfelt condolences to the family.......Dick gave the best hugs and always had one for me.

Dick was a top hand. Monica and I think the world of him. We went on numerous trips to the DuNoir and the big winter range with him. He was a staunch supporter of the backcountry and the BCH. Great storyteller and friend. We will miss him.

Mary Ellen, Lee Ann and your family's.  So sorry to hear you lost your Dad. I saw him a few times since I moved back and had a nice visit with him.  I remember the whole family from years back, when you kids were in high school, and the big old suburban he drove. Your family and the dog would  stop at our house to get Dave and his dog for a trip to the moountains.  I still miss your Mom.  My thoughts are with you.

I met Dick aka Slewfoot at Michigan Tech in the fall of 1956.

We became friends and rekindled our friendship in Wyoming in 1959 when Judy and I were students at University of Wyoming.

Dick would stay with me when he came to visit Judy.

Adele and I were at their wedding in Ethete and visited back and forth while we lived in Laramie.

The last time we got together was while your mother was living.

We send our sympathy to the family.

RIP Dick. I enjoyed taking care of your critters, and Duke appreciated the pasture in the summertime.

To Lee Ann & Mary Ellen and families,

My sincerest condolences on the passing of your Dad and grandpa. My prayers are for your comfort during this time of loss. I've known, worked for and partnered with Dick for the last 45 years. He always treated me with respect and I respected him for it. Dick always had an opinion, but mostly would listen to a reasonable counter. The many years spent working the mining country in Nevada, Idaho, Montana and Colorado with Dick revealed him as a proud man who loved the outdoors and took seriously the work ethic. Staking mining claims from a helicopter, snow cat and on snowshoes all across the Mountain West provided experiences I never would have expected to have and shall never forget. His later years were spent trying to preserve and improve the outdoors that he loved so much. He will be missed by many. I valued his friendship and I  will miss our talks. Rest in Peace!

I met Dick in 1964 when I became a babysitter for the first 3 Inberg children, Eric, Kirk and Mary Ellen.  I remember Dick and Judy headed out to Lions and Jaycee events with eager anticipation.  They were a cute couple who geve so much to the community from the beginning. When LeeAnn arrivered, in 1971, Judy asked me to be her Godmother.  I was in college and I was thrilled.  In later years, I watched them endure unbearable loss and still give to the community through tireless efforts of conservation and wilderness preservation. Dick and Judy taught their children the lessons of giving back and leaving the earth a better place.  Generations are blessed with their tireless efforts.

What a nice obit. He was a nice man. Remember seeing him in the outdoors with his miles.

Pamela Tessman - 4/19/2024

Dick was a friend and colleague of my Dad Rollie Connell. They worked together on many engineering projects and they were often seen together surveying the country around Fremont County. I know my Dad considered him a good friend.

I always enjoyed visiting with him in the grocery store and he will be missed by many I'm sure.

Dick will be missed, he was always kind and willing to answer my questions or offer a chair during the WRBCH meetings. I am thankful for his kindness and friendly face at the meetings.

Dick Inberg was such a great mentor in our Back Country Horsemen group, which inspired my volunteer efforts. We had a connection as Michigan Tech alumni, graduating 20 years apart. His vision and energy helped lay out the path we are following today.
