Gantenbein, Gary "Little"

Dave and Gantenbein Family,

Sorry to hear the passing of your Dad. I always enjoyed hearing the stories about the two of you and your adventures. The news is a shock to this fishing community. We hope he has found a peaceful spot with endless fishing opportunities. Our prayers are with you.

To MaryLou,Patty, Jonny and David and families,

We were sad to hear of Gary's passing. It is so very difficult to lose a loved one but take comfort in knowing that Gary is now in a safer place to rest in peace with God.

We remember the many years of living across the street from you and always
enjoyed being neighbors and visiting with your family. As we recall, there was always something going on in that neighborhood!!!

Please accept our deepest sympathy in your loss and our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
God Bless

Words cannot express how sad I was when I heard the news on the untimely passing of my dear sweet uncle "Little Twin". It is difficult to understand why such tragedies happen. I will always remember his kindness and generosity. My love always to the Gantenbein Family.

Dear friend, Mary Lou,

My wife, Marilyn and I send our deepest sympathy and love at this most difficult time for you and your precious family. I never suspected such a sudden event could befall Little Twin because he was such an outdoorsman and hard worker. It was good though that he never had to suffer long as befalls so many.

Little will be greatly missed for sure. I shall always remember and cherish the special day that You and Little and Thelma and I went together to Rawlins where both us couples were married the same day. It was certainly a good beginning. Both marriages lasted well beyond 50 years, and only put on hold due to our companion's returning into the eternal world.

Memories are many. With Little's and Big Twin's help and coaching I bagged my first deer, antelope and elk all in the same year. We worked together and played together a lot. Memories are plentiful to last and to comfort.

Our basketball stories are history and probably better left alone, except for the one I shall never forget. It was after the finish of our regular basketball season at Pavillion. Some friends from Ft. Washakie and Ethete invited us over for a free-for-all ball game. There were no referees, so we were all on our honor to call our own fouls. Little Twin, Big Twin, Dean Weitzel, and probably Gene Wasson, Clint Boss, Bill Wempen and myself were all Pavillion boys. We played a double header where the first game ended with both teams making over 100 points. The second game ended with one team over 100 and the other around 95 points. Surely we all won, for it showed what we could all do by playing the game the way we wanted to. I don't recall the names of the players from Ethete and Ft. Washakie, but I'll never forget the game we all played. I don 't even remember any difficult feelings about any fouls. I guess there weren't any. That day became a special day of bonding for us all as we played the two outstanding games of our high school careers. There were few if any spectators in Father Zumack's little old gym at Ethete, in "The Valley of the Warm Winds."

You and Gary were always friends of the heart to us. You invited us to use your fishing dock for boat launching, which we did many times. Many in our community enjoyed your warm hospitality at "Little’s Place.”

One time our boat battery failed and we were in just the right spot where our cell phone worked to call Little to come jump-start our boat. He was there in a flash to save our day, and perhaps our lives, had there been a sudden wind like those that often comb the sage and waters of our valley. Little Twin and you have been blessed with a strong family who will bless and comfort you as best they can. Friends are so special too. Please know that we join with so many who care.

We send our love from Palmas Del Mar,(Palms by the Sea) in Bacolod City, Philippine Islands where we are currently serving a two-year mission. We are working with the Perpetual Education Fund for the LDS Church where we help the young people with their church loans for higher education in the schools of their choice such as trade school, college or graduate level.

Little Twin worked willingly to make life better for his family as well as for many others. Fortunate are all who will long enjoy the craftsmanship of his own hands in building our better community. He will especially be remembered for his integrity, hard work and self reliance, along with his warm friendlness and caring disposition.

friends always,
