Deanna Turnbull - 4/8/2011Dear Family,
I was so sorry to read of Roxie's death. She was a good friend during high school, and we had so many good times together. I will always remember her smile and giggle.
Please know that I am praying for God's peace and comfort for you all.
With sincere sympathy,

Dear Family,
As her niece I cannot begin to count the memories that I hold of Roxie; in her home, in her Mother's home next door to mine and in ours. My Father recently sent me some old photos and as I sorted them I noticed that in all the snapshots of Aunt Roxie, she had an infectious smile and her gaze was often pointed at Uncle Charlie. All the Christmas Eve parties at their house on Mariposa will live in my memory forever. She never forgot to make her Mother's garlic dip, Santa Claus would often show up with gifts (the family lawyer) and Richard and I would watch 'Santa' fly over her house.. Towards the end of the night Grandmother Winnie and Aunt Snooky would be happily chatting in a chair in Roxie's family room. It was an ideal childhood memory and I miss those Christmas parties to this day.
Roxie demonstrated the highest ability to find humor in all situations. In good or bad, she had a resolve that is rarely matched. She sewed, she sold houses, she cooked, and endeavored all of Esther's rantings without batting an eye. It was only years later I learned she had a real love of golf, and that her competitive side was not reserved for just bridge and thirteen. Roxie and Maxine Bell were the closest of friends for most of their lives, and everywhere they were laughter was all one noticed.
I am deeply sorry that Roxie did not have more time with us, but she lived more heartily than many. I will miss my Aunt Roxie, but am thankful for the time I shared with her in this life.
Sincerely,
Ann Marie Pierce
Dear Mark, Heidi and Richard:
I am sorry to see that your mom passed away. Your parents gave me my first and only real babysitting job and it was a great job for many years. I only babysat Richard when he was brought home from the hospital and for a short time after as I was becoming a young adult and went my own way. Richard, you were such a good baby and it was my first time to take care of such a small little one. Mark and Heidi....you were a delight and I LOVED you and loved taking care of you. Your parents were so kind to me and always so joyful. They were just the best employers for a young teenager who lived in not so great an environment. Your mom gave me a job at Roxanne's. I was a good gift wrapper and deliverer but NOT so good at dusting! She was so gracious when she said I wasn't needed any longer. It is sad that we go on with our lives and I only saw your mom once right after I moved back from Seattle in 1983. I was sorry to see that your dad passed away also. They were both wonderful to me and I will be forever grateful. I think about you all often. I am so sorry for our loss.

To Roxie's Family,
I was a classmate of Roxie's and she was definitely someone who sticks in my mind from my high school years. Her beautiful brown eyes along with her humor set her apart from many of my other classmates. The joy and laughter she brought to so many of us is truly a memory I will not forget.
My heartfelt sympathy for your loss of such a grand individual.

I am so very sorry to hear of Aunt Roxie's passing. She was a one of a kind individual; one of my very favorite people, and I know she will be terribly missed by all who knew her and loved her. I especially remember how she could put a smile on anyone's face.
