Karen Ann Stork was born on October 29, 1950, in Riverton, Wyoming, to Bill and Ingebjorg Stork. God called Karen Stork Albrandt home on October 9, 2024 to be reunited with her loved ones.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2024 at the United Methodist Church in Riverton.  Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery.   Memorial contributions may be made to the Fremont County 4-H Council in care of the Davis Funeral Home, 2203 W. Main Street, Riverton, Wyoming 82501.

Karen attended schools in Riverton. While in the school system, she was active in the Methodist Youth Group, 4-H, Job’s Daughters, and the Riverton High School Marching Band. It was a joke among her friends and family (according to her mother) that she was the best clarinet player in the band. She did achieve 1st chair. Her musical ability came from her father who was part of a family band that played for local dances in the community. After graduating high school in 1969, she attended Central Wyoming College and then Chadron State College where she received her degree in Elementary Education in 1973. Growing up, she stated that she always wanted to be a teacher, so she followed her dream and came home to do that. She started out as an aide at Jefferson School and then was hired fulltime. When Jefferson closed, she worked at Lincoln and finished her career at Aspen. She often commented to people that she attended the third grade for 30 years.

In 1980, Karen married Gary Albrandt. They made their home in Shoshoni. She was still living in their home until her death. She and Gary loved to travel and enjoyed being active with the Riverton Lion’s Club and the Wyoming Trucking Association. The couple traveled to Norway to see family and to many ports globally. Even though she loved her adventures with Gary and friends, her true love was her home state and her Norwegian background.

Karen was a good friend to all the neighbors in her childhood home. She was active in helping with the neighbor’s children and to this day the called her “Aunt Karen.” She was a loving daughter and sister tending to their needs until their deaths. She will be missed by many of her former students, co-workers, extended family, friends, and her beloved Bichon Frise dog, Muffy.

Survivors include cousins, Marilyn Novotny, Nancy Novotny, Susan Breeden, Penny Novotny, and their families; brother-in-law, Victor Albrandt; nephew, Shawn Albrandt, and their families; as well as numerous extended family and friends she considered family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gary Albrandt; her parents, Bill and Ingebjorg Stork; brother, Richard Stork; grandparents, Oscar and Dorthea Aspli and Grant and Beatrice Stork; several uncles, aunts, and cousins.
