Bayard Kane Fox died September 18, 2024 at the age of 95.
He was born April 12, 1929 to Mabel and Joseph Fox and was raised on Fern Hill, the family farm in Westchester, Pennsylvania. After an education at the Episcopal Academy in Philadelphia and Yale University,
Bayard joined the CIA, a career that led him, and his family, all over the world. The second half of his life was devoted to founding and running Bitterroot Ranch, a dude ranch outside of Dubois, Wyoming, as well as Equitours, a leading organizer of international horseback riding vacations. In his usual, grand fashion, Bayard used his 90s to complete and publish his memoir: Fisherman, Rancher, Horseman, Spy: True Stories from a Life Well-Lived (available on Amazon, he would want it to be known!). He led a life of adventure, and he wrote his stories down for posterity. Bayard had great intellect, insatiable curiosity, a loving heart, and he leaves behind legions of people whose lives he touched. He left a mark on those who knew him.
There will be a memorial for him in May at Bitterroot Ranch, the place he loved most. All are invited to remember him with the exact date to be determined.
