Shane Beddoes, 53 of Lander, died at home with his family by his side on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011, after battling leukemia.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 15, at the Lander Community Center, with a celebration of life reception to follow. Those who want to assist with the meal should contact Kesha Martell, 332-4723, or Teresa Beddoes, 349-8470.
The oldest of six children, Shane Beddoes was born on July 24, 1957, in Payson, Utah to Paul and Helen Beddoes. The family moved from Utah to Lander in 1961 where he spent the remainder of his life.
In 1978, Mr. Beddoes married Karen Green and they started their family.
Mr. Beddoes spent 17 years working in the energy industry. He became a driller when he was 18 years old and traveled across the West working to discover many oil, gas, and geothermal energy fields. He started his hardwood flooring business, Fine Finishes, in 1992. His son, Josh, joined the business in 2001 and continues to service Wyoming and other Rocky Mountain states.
His family said Mr. Beddoes enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, especially his granddaughter. They said he spent most of his life outdoors -- hunting, camping and exploring, bred German shepherd dogs, and spent a great deal of his time raising and training mountain horses. The family said Mr. Beddoes was an avid pool player and enjoyed the hot pools in Thermopolis.
He is survived by his son, Josh Beddoes and Kary Sommers; daughter, Nikkie Beddoes; granddaughter, Nakiya Beddoes; former wife, Karen Beddoes; companion, Sindy Hinrichs; mother, Helen Beddoes; brothers, Tom Beddoes and wife Teresa of Lander; Colt Beddoes of Lyman; sisters, Becky Tappe and Pam Zidich of Lander.
