Tanner, Shirley Leona
To the Tanner Family:
I want to send my condolences in the loss of your Mom. She was always such a wonderful spirit and I remember her for her kindness. One particular thing I especially remember is when Alice had a birthday party and she was kind enough to include my sister, Sandy, with my invitation. Sandy was just a tagalong but she was made welcome. It was one of the few birthday parties I remember. And I was allowed to sleep over when you lived in the underground house on Federal - my only sleep over ever. I know you will miss her but the memories you have will always keep her alive in your hearts. God bless you all.
To the Tanners,
I loved your mother. She was a kind, sweat woman and always had a place in her heart for a stray kid or a stray cat. I remember so many times when she and your dad lived across the street from Elton's mom and we would all be in the house. She always made Elton feel welcome and she included him in what she called her family. I still remember her laugh and the way she got that little twinkle in her eye like there was some great secret between you and her when she laughed!
Thank you for sharing her all those years ago and for letting her be part of my memories. Please know that you are in my heart these days and that I think of you all often. I'm sorry I'm not there to share this time with you, but know that your mother touched so many people and so many hearts. It is with great respect and love that think of all of you. May there be peace for you and among you and in her memory, joy and celebration of a great life!
With all my love and thoughts,
Sally Bartlett
