William 'Bill' Meckem

Meckem, William "Bill"

We are so very sad to hear of Bill's passing. He was a very good friend to my dad and mom. My thoughts and prayers.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Having known Bill a short 6 months, I was honored to facilitate home caregiving to allow him to be at home with Lorraine.  I found him to be a feisty philosopher! Long talks about our country, dedication to family, and doing the right thing. I enjoyed his piano playing and an occasional game of cards. What a great life he led, and will be missed by many. Fly high Bill!

I was involved in some land development work of Bill's in later years in Dubois. Bill was a real character. I enjoyed talking to him and I only learned a part of his life story. Another one of the greatest generation to go.

We met Bill and Lorraine when we moved to Jackson Hole in June 1981.  Bill and Lorraine quickly became good friends and later Bill was my pilot traveling to our banks in Cody and Sheridan. Mary and Pete Mead, Bill and Lorraine and numerous other couples became good friends.  Bill and Pete owned the fixed base airport operations during this time.  Bill was also a land developer along with Pete.  They developed many subdivisions including Gros Ventre West where we ended up building our first home in Jackson.  Bill's handshake was his word, no finer gentleman could be found.  Thanks for the memories Bill and Lorraine.  We have missed you since you left JH and moved back to Dubois.  Rest in Peace!   Dick and Maggie Scarlett

Growing up and looking forward to spending summer's in Wyoming was one of the highlights of my youth.  Uncle Bill was a Father and a Mentor during those summer's.  I'll never forget them. All my Love Leslie

I can see Bill flying his F 86 up to heaven now.  He was one of the best.  I am the General Conctractor here in Rio Verde, Arizona who built Bill and Lorraine's home.  They were both gracious and pleasent and very easy to work with and for.  They knew what they wanted and they got what they wanted - without hassel one!!

I loved his flying stories and Jackson Hole tales.  GREAT PEOPLE THE MECKEMS.

Sincerely,  Dave & Marty Walters
